mp3.de DMN Allstars – Das neue Charity Projekt Eines der schönsten Dinge an Weihnachten ist, dass es die Menschen dazu motiviert, Gutes zu tun. In einer neuen Charity Aktion haben sich dieses Jahr Musiker aus aller Welt zusammengefunden um den Erdbebenopfern in Kashmir zu helfen. Eine Idee geht neue Wege. Wir erinnern uns: Schon in den 80er Jahren gab es große Charity Songs und Projekte wie Band Aid, in denen sich Musiker zusammentaten um gemeinsam Geld für die dritte Welt zu sammeln. Nach diesem Vorbild möchte auch Oliver Kossmann, Initiator der DMN Allstars, handeln und durch gemeinsames musikalisches Engagement Menschen in Not helfen. Im Gegensatz zu früher gibt es heute jedoch dank des Internets ganz neue Möglichkeiten, Kontakte zu knüpfen und Musiker für ein solches Projekt zu gewinnen. In diesem Fall ist es die Online-Community digitalmusician.net (DMN), die es Musikern von überall auf der Welt erlaubt, über das Netz miteinander zu kommunizieren und zu musizieren. Das Digital Musician Link Plug-in (DML) verbindet die Musiksoftwares der Mitglieder und ermöglicht so den direkten musikalischen Kontakt. Innerhalb von nur einer Nacht schrieb Oliver den Song „Today It Is Christmas“ und rief über DMN zur Teilnahme an seiner Aktion auf. Mit großem Erfolg: Es meldeten sich zahlreiche Musiker, die das Projekt unterstützen wollten. Durch den Beitrag verschiedenster internationaler Künstler ist ein einzigartiger Popsong entstanden. Neben Oliver Kossmann selbst sind noch zehn weitere Musikerinnen und Musiker aus den USA, England, Spanien, Italien, Deutschland, Finnland und Portugal beteiligt. Unabhängig voneinander haben sie, jeder in seinem eigenen Studio, die einzelnen Elemente des Songs aufgenommen um sie anschließend zu einem Ganzen zusammenzusetzen. Der Erlös, der aus dem Verkauf des Songs hervorgeht, wird vollständig in Spenden an die UNICEF umgesetzt. Diese wird das Geld direkt an die hilfsbedürftigen Erdbebenopfer in Kashmir/ Pakistan weiterleiten. This year, as part of a new charity action, musicians from all over the world have come together in order to help the victims of the earthquake in Kashmir. A new twist on an old idea. We all remember the great charity songs of the 80’s, with projects such as Band Aid, in which musicians worked together in order to raise money for the third world. Oliver Kossmann, the brains behind the DMN Allstars, wanted to follow this example, and help people in need through musical collaboration. Thanks to the internet, in contrast to the way things were done before, there are now lots of new possibilities to make contacts and find musicians for such a project. In this case it was the online community of digitalmusician.net (DMN) which allowed musicians from all over the world to communicate and make music together. The Digital Musician Link Plug-in (DML) links together the music software of the members and facilitates direct musical contact. In just one night, Oliver wrote the song ‘Today It Is Christmas’ and put out a plea for other people to join in his project. It was a great success – numerous musicians applied to support the action. Through the contribution of many different international musicians a truly individual pop song was created. As well as Oliver Kossmann himself, there are ten other musicians involved, from the USA, England, Spain, Italy, Finland, Portugal and Germany. Totally independently, each in their own studio, they recorded the individual elements of the song, which were then all arranged and mixed at Energy Studios in England. The money raised by the sale of this song will be given to UNICEF. They will pass the money directly to those affected by the earthquake in Kashmir and Pakistan.
